Hula Recital

So for those of you who don't know, my Dad's side of the family has some Polynesian blood in it. (My aunt is from New Zealand) and so i have some cousins that are half blooded, and growing up they embraced that side of themselves. My cousin Pania and her husband Fili started the Utah Pacific Islander Dance Company and just this past year, they talked me into taking hula lessons. I was a little weary at first because moving my hips in a pretty fashion doesn't come naturally to me, but after many months of practice, i'm a pro! Just last Saturday we had our big recital. A lot of work went into it. We had to make our own costumes and practice a ton to get the dances just right, but it ended up being a lot of fun and an experience i will never forget. I brought my camera but never really had time to take pictures, but here's at least a picture of hte whole group of dancers. If you can't find me, look for the pale white person among all the tan ones!
