The Amazing Race Seattle Edition

So 3 of our good friends birthdays landed in this beginning half of February and so we decided to do a joint birthday party for them. We wanted it to be epic, so that they knew how much we loved them, we went through a lot of ideas from laser tag to bowling to dance parties and we finally decided on doing an Amazing Race themed birthday party. We had 40 people show up, we assigned them into 10 teams of 4 and sent them on a race through Seattle. It was a little bit stressful to put together, but it turned out really great in the end.

The whole race was birthday themed, so we started them off at the Institute building and before they could get their first clue they had to eat a cake with no hands off the floor. There first clue sent them to a park called Gasworks where it's common to watch fireworks on the 4th over the water where we had blown up about 100 balloons. They had to go through and pop balloons in order to find their next clue. I won't go through the entire race but we had them cover quite a bit of ground and they had to do things such as play ring around the rosy with strangers, sing happy birthday to a stranger, dress up like a clown, waltz in a pink dress with a stranger, play leapfrog, carry a cupcake with a lit candle 3 blocks to their next clue, if the candle blew out they had to start over, and the last few clues had an "over the hill" theme and they had to dress up like old people, complete with adult diapers, baby powder gray hair and canes and race through a park filled with people to the finish line. Everyone was such good sports and it was a great way to spend our Saturday.

Here's a picture after the race of most of the group....I'm lucky to have such great friends.
