Best Hike Ever.

This morning I woke up in a bad mood. As I was laying there in bed feeling sorry for myself and hating the world, I realized I had two options: I could either stay in bed, be mopey and depressed all day OR I could go hiking because hiking always cheers me up. I chose the better option.

I decided to try hiking up Millcreek Canyon, it's just a short 10 minute drive away and for as close as it is, I hadn't ever been hiking there. (And it's one of the few canyons that has hardly any snow left in it.) I picked a random trailhead and began hiking. It was a gorgeous day out. Sunny, warm with a slight breeze. I couldn't have asked for a better day, yet I was still mopey and upset. Not more than 15-20 minutes into my hike I came upon this older couple resting on the side of the trail. I said my "hello's" and "how are you's" and "it's a beautiful day for a hike's" and figured after a little small talk I could keep on heading up the trail. As I started to walk away from them the lady called after me and asked if I was in a bad mood, I proceeded to deny it, not wanting this darling old couple to remember me as some depressed hiker lady, I told her I was just feeling tired and would perk up once I got my blood pumping a bit longer. She called me a liar and then continued to tell me that she could see my aura and that my aura was looking cloudy and dark, sure signs of a troubled person. Her dear husband the entire time kept apologizing and promising me that she wasn't some crazy old bat. They started hiking with me and we got to talking and they ended up being the funniest people ever. It was hard to hike i was often laughing so hard. Weird as it sounds, I vented to this lady a bit about life and she was quit to come back with great advice and stories from her own life, her husband would chime in and straighten out her stories every so often. And every 5 minutes or so, she would look me up and down and say, "Why I do believe your aura is getting lighter" or "Looks like the sunshine is starting to peek through the clouds". She was fantastic. After about a half hour of hiking with them, they stopped to take another break and I kept going, thanking them graciously for a fantastic 30 minutes and for helping me brighten my aura. I won't lie, I felt incredibly happier after mingling with them for a bit and I greatly enjoyed the rest of my hike.

Thank goodness for crazy old ladies and gorgeous mountains.

That sounds like a delightful hike! I'm so glad you ran into some people who could turn your day around. And I'm not so glad that you're not moving to Seattle :(
