seriously..

So i was looking on the website Allrecipes.com today, just to see if there were any that looked good, and i came across this little gem:

MIKE"S SPECIAL SANDWHICH
INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)

* 2 slices bread
* 2 tablespoons butter, divided
* 2 slices processed American cheese

DIRECTIONS

1. Heat a small skillet to medium high heat. Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of both bread slices; place one slice bread, buttered-side-down, in hot skillet. Immediately place both cheese slices on bread and cover with second bread slice, butter-side-up. When first side is browned, turn over and brown other side. Remove from heat and let cool 2 to 3 minutes before serving.

Now i don't know about you, but a regular grilled cheese sandwich really, REALLY isn't that special. I found the recipe, the SAME recipe, i shouldn't even call it a recipe, the same technique of making a grilled cheese sandwich 4...yes FOUR times on the site. Who in the world needs to look up how to make a grilled cheese sandwich?? I found this amusing.

The Nelson House: EXPOSED

You know how all of the reality TV shows have "behind the scenes" shows at the end of their season, well my "season" at the Nelson household is almost up so i thought i'd give you a peek of what REALLY goes on here. Every family has their secrets and these are just a couple of Heather and Erics.

Secret #1:
They can't really control Ethan and bedtime and naptime were just too much for them to handle so now they just give Ethan a little bit of the "strong drink" and bedtime is whenever he passes out, bottle still in the mouth. Waking up afterwards is a bit hard but that's why they keep the bottle of baby aspirin handy right in the dresser nearby.

Secret #2:
Their perfect little Kailey....has a stump for a leg. I don't think there's much more to say on this one, the picture says it all.

Secret #3:
They live like barbarians. "Forks? who needs them...Use your knife to stab your food!"

Now for a little uplifting news...I'm finished with the top part of my quilt. Here it is all done minus like 3 rows i think, but close enough to being done. Now all i have to do is add the quilt batting and the back will just be black and i'm all done. Lets see how long that takes!

A little challenge

So I've never had much muscle and I've always been much more into running then i have been into strength training types of things, so I've decided to try and tone my upper body by attempting....THE 100 PUSH UP CHALLENGE!! How cool does that sound? In approximately 6 weeks, maybe more for me because i might have to repeat a couple weeks, i should be able to do 100 push ups! Which would be a huge accomplishment for me because, for my initial test, i could barely squeak out 4 measly push ups. I have quite the challenge ahead of me. Even if i end up being able to do like 20 push ups in a row i will be happy. Wish me luck!!

So on the note of a hundred push ups, I was walking down our street yesterday to mail a letter and I passed a Dad and his 12 or 13, maybe 14 year old daughter outside playing volleyball. As i was walking by i heard the Dad say to the girl after she attempted to serve it over a fake volleyball net, " I don't care if you end up doing 100 pushups tonight, you WILL learn how to serve a volleyball," And after she proceeded to serve it too low, had to drop and do 10 push ups. Needless to say, that brought me back to the glory years of when i played sports and had the potential to be good and Dad's training sessions. While i never had to do push ups, Dad did have numerous other ways to try and "motivate" me. Seeing this Dad and his daughter made me laugh. You could tell she was sick of it and just wanted to go inside. I wanted to go pat her on the back and tell her she'd survive and thank her Dad for it a couple years from now.

So the little peanuts name was finally decided on. It's Kailey Ann Nelson. How cute...it' only took them forever to decide on a spelling!! But she and momma Heather are home now and it is soo great. If you want to see pictures and videos of Kailey and Ethan (which are SOOO cute) then put your hand on your mouse and slowly maneuver it over to the left side of the page and click on the link that says Heather and Eric, where it will take you to their blog which has copious amounts of pictures and videos for your viewing pleasure.

Here are some pictures from Casey's visit which includes pictures from us at the Nautilus Museum, inside the Nautilus submarine, at Mystic Pizza, and on a hike by the ocean!

So, my new niece has finally clawed her way out of the womb. After Heather's water broke on Saturday around 2:30 p.m. it only took another 29 or so hours to actually start having contractions and get the baby out. But i have to give Heather props, she did it naturally with no form of pain drugs. Not by choice however, just because they baby came faster than expected. I saw her and the baby this morning and both look more than healthy. This is my thinking on it all. Heather was suppose to give the lesson on Sunday in Relief Society and so I think that she faked her water breaking thus making it so i had to give the lesson for her AND take her of Ethan at the same time while Heather and Eric chilled in the hospital eating popsicles and watching movies. Don't you find it convenient that her water broke the day before she was suppose to teach but didn't start having contractions until well after church was over on sunday night? yeah, give it some thought.

More exciting news is my friend Casey came to visit this weekend for the 4th of July. It was a lot of fun to see her and, even if it was just for a few days, have a friend my own age to hang out with. After lots of thought, i realized i could NEVER move and live in another country becasue my two favorite holidays are American holidays. 4th of July and Thanksgiving. If i move to another country i can't celebrate them. Well i could technically but it's not as fun when your the only one celebrating. This year for 4th of July i am sort of disappointed in myself. The only fireworks i watched were some fireworks on TV. Doesn't that sound like something an old person would do?? What am i turning into??

I have pictures to post of both the baby and Casey's and I's adventures while she was here but Eric has the camera at the hospital right now so i can't get them off it quite yet so hopefully soon i'll be back and post some pictures.
